Sashiko Art Coaster Workshop

29 September 2024 (Sun)
2 pm - 5 pm
$90/pax

Sashiko is a folk art that carries a rich Japanese culture and history. It is a process of needle movement rather than a mass of stitches, and it was first developed for practical usage by the locals rather than purely aesthetic. Earning her name as “caring stitches”, sashiko soon creates a newer form of art for her beauty and inspiration. In this workshop, participants will learn the hand sewing technique of sashiko running stitches on a coaster with geometric pattern, which will further equip the participant to attempt on bigger and more complex sashiko designs. Participants will receive a handmade pouch that comes authentic sashkio coaster fabric, threads and needle. All materials will be provided during the session.
